FSBO Marketing for Loan Officers

Though not as prevalent as among real estate agents, for sale by owner marketing can be a lucrative niche for loan officers.  FSBO home sellers are on their own and they have something loan officers want:  buyers in need of financing.  The good thing is that loan officers also have something sellers need (indirectly):  financing (to enable the sale of property).

This potential win-win relationship is just waiting to be formed and almost always will be by a loan officer with any shred of people skills.  There are various approaches that can be taken when a mortgage broker contacts a FSBO about working together.  Some are as simple as “let me help you pre-qualify potential buyers” and some are as complex as offering a “FSBO kit” full of helpful information for the average for sale by owner.

There are also complete FSBO marketing systems available from various companies that help a loan officer create more seller relationships and generate more buyer leads.  These range from independent websites to exclusive areas on a national website and can range in cost from a few hundred a month and up.

The bottom line is that FSBO marketing is attractive to loan officers because multiple buyer leads can be generated from a single seller and often sellers will want to list with an agent, who the LO can then refer out to one of their realty contacts.
