What are FSBO Leads?
FSBO Leads can be a variety of things to different people.
For real estate agents they usually refer to a seller who has recently been found with a property on the market as a “for sale by owner”. Almost 90% of all people who start their home selling efforts as a FSBO will wind up listing with a real estate agent, according to the annual survey from the National Association of Realtors. Additionally, more than half of all these will list with the first agent who makes contact, according to the same survey. So it makes a lot of sense, as a real estate agent, to target new FSBO sellers as a listing strategy.
For mortgage brokers FSBO Leads are usually good as a source of buyer referrals. The seller may end up using the loan officer to finance the purchase of the next property, once their existing property is sold, but most loan officers don’t ask that as a requirement when marketing to the seller. A single FSBO seller can mean several purchase leads for a loan officer, which makes for sale by owner marketing an attractive (not to mention profitable) strategy.
Other players in the real estate industry may have a FSBO marketing strategy as well, but the two descriptions above should give you a good idea of what is a FSBO Lead.
